Hospitality Sector 'The Perfect IoT Environment,' Says CytexOne CEO

What are some of the larger IoT vendors doing wrong in the market?
I don't know that the vendors themselves are doing something wrong, but the problem overall is that for the end user, IoT can seem like the “Wild West.” There is no clear leader, plan or structure. Consumers are either totally uneducated or understandably get lost in the myriad of options. Consumers also don’t realize how accessible and reliable a well-designed system can be.
Our passion is making IoT solutions easily accessible and reliable. We want the end user to effortlessly rely on technology without afterthought. I want us all to experience IoT as natural and intuitive and beneficial, like fresh air, sunlight and water.
How big of an issue is security with regard to IoT in 2015?
Security is and must always be front and center for IoT. The industry must adopt uniform security standards but until it does, CytexOne relies on our financial services industry security foundations and templates.
There are many IoT startups forming. Do you think the larger vendors in the market will just acquire these smaller players in the next few years, or will there be a healthy number of IoT-focused companies in the market?
IoT is on fire because the results are very immediate, the value and momentum is clear. It is certainly a mix of both events, some companies will be bought and others will thrive independently.
With lots of investment there comes fast action and even more lessons to be learned. I suspect many of the deeper pocketed companies will snap-up the hotter funded start-ups to fill in their own gaps. Like everything else, it will have varying degrees of risk and success. IoT could differ from other hot tech markets in that it will be driven by verticals, from industries like manufacturing, to hospitality and commercial offices. CytexOne is well positioned.
