IoT Specialist CEO: Partners Can Be Key To Our Growth
Submitted by Mark Haranas on

Where are some opportunities in IoT in 2015 that some people might not know of?
Within the context of EIoT, building automation has been the most pragmatic solution with control for not only lighting and thermostats, but going beyond to devices outside of the energy umbrella that provide occupant comfort and safety as well as help to increase facility uptime and enable fault detection.
Outdoor signage with fault-detection sensors help customers know the business is open, (whereas) when the sign is out, customers will go somewhere else, thinking the store is closed. Also, restaurants are turning to sensors for their freezers and refrigerators so they know ahead of time if the temperatures are dropping below FDA guidelines.
We have also seen sensors used for warehouse environments to keep forklift motors warm, so the business loses less time waiting for them to warm up in the morning. Banks are employing occupancy sensors by their ATM areas for customer safety around the clock. There is a focus on fault detection, proactive maintenance and the reduction of business risk.
Can you explain how Daintree's new ControlScope product is a differentiator?
ControlScope is an enterprise solution driven by an open standards-based architecture with wireless network and software for building control and operation. Compared to proprietary systems, this architecture ensures a scalable, easy to deploy and easy to use solution that offers interoperability to help customers future-proof their facility.
For instance, if the LED fixtures are communicating with Daintree's networked wireless area controller, customers can add additional devices to the control solution, such as thermostats, electrical plugs, CO2 sensors, fans, and other energy and non-energy devices. As a result, smart lighting controls based on open standards form the foundation to enable the EIoT -- where the building is the enterprise -- and machine-to-machine communications.
What is Daintree doing to help its channel partners get better margins and more revenue opportunities based around IoT?
We're providing extensive training to our VARs, (giving) them healthy discounts based on their tier level and (allowing) them to offer services to deploy our solution at the customer sites. We've created a 'ControlScope Connected' program -- it’s a community of leading manufacturers working together to deliver innovative, interoperable wireless control products for commercial buildings. Daintree validates every connected product to ensure that they interoperate seamlessly and can be managed within Daintree's large-scale ZigBee wireless building networks.
We help partners every step of the way – from product integration to overall system architecture, right down to providing marketing and sales opportunities.
