Industry veteran Joe Lueckenhoff, previously senior vice president of business product management at AT&T, was appointed executive vice president and general manager of Transaction Network Services (TNS) earlier this month, and is tasked with leading the data communications and interoperability solutions company's telecommunications services division.

Lueckenhoff is leading the Virginia-based company's offensive to capitalize on the market conversion to 4G LTE in the mobile sector, and helping to monetize big data. He spent 24 years at AT&T, previously holding the senior vice president of business product management position there, and was also chief operating officer at Celox Networks.

Lueckenhoff tells IT Best of Breed about his plan and vison to drive the telecommunications division for TNS, and how solution provides can capitalize on 4G LTE, big data and generate new revenue in the telecommunications space.

Where are the trends and how can the channel/solution providers capitalize on big data and big data communications?

There is an abundance of rich data that transits the telecommunications networks outside of the actual information in the data flow or phone call. This includes information such as the name of the originating caller or data provider, the date and time, the location of the originator, the destination for the information and numerous other items.

With the appropriate end user approvals this data can be used in an unlimited number of ways to create value in the ecosystem that can be shared with the telecommunications operators. Given the vast number of use cases and the significant differences in the involved markets and/or industries, the channel/solution providers can provide capabilities that are tailored to the customers they serve.

No single provider has the capacity or resources to serve all of these markets. Solution providers can therefore specialize in the customer set of their choosing.

Additionally, no single telecommunications provider can provide access to all of the end users.  Therefore it's important to create and participate in the entire ecosystem to truly unlock all of the value in the market.
