Security Monitoring, At What Price?

Lack of resources could create a security-monitoring problem for some companies.

Bob Hollander, vice president of sales and marketing at St. Louis-based solution provider Netelligent, sees a lack of resources playing out in security, where, he says, “most companies can’t afford to operate their own incident and event management group.”

A lack of staff is merely exacerbated when you add information security to the complexity, Hollander said. There’s a sense to get outside help for something like threat management, which is “pretty hard for most companies,” he said, while the customer tries to focus on things tied more closely to its business, such as applications and business process optimization.
