1. A Rising Battle Between Modern Versus Legacy
According to MobileIron, tension will continue to build between mobile and desktop teams in enterprise IT in 2016.
Part of this is due to Microsoft's newly-released operating system, Windows 10, which makes enterprise mobility management (EMM) the standard management for all next-generation Windows laptops and desktops.
MobileIron believes Windows 10 will disrupt the Windows desktop-centered traditional enterprise IT model, which for the past few decades managed desktop security by maintaining a network perimeter and through security technologies such as anti-malware.
"Over time, this approach will replace the traditional system image for many use cases because it promises greater security, agility, and cost-effectiveness," said Reje. "However, it will also disrupt existing desktop operations and create technology, budget, and organizational tensions between the splinter mobile team and the established desktop team."
