Cisco also announced two new industrial switches to support connected factories: the IE4010 (pictured) and IE1000, as well as enhancements to its industrial security appliance ISA3000.

The vendor touts its IE4010 and IE100 as highly secure, easy-to-manage multi-gigabit speed ruggedized switches, which includes in-line Power over Ethernet (PoE) multi-speed ports. The IE4010 can power up to 24 other devices in industrial applications, while the IE100 powers up to eight other devices in industrial applications.

Enhancements to Cisco's ISA3000 include increased threat protection that's purpose-built for industrial applications that require support for Common Industrial Protocol (CIP).
