RightScale's data again confirms the status of the public cloud market: AWS maintains a dominant lead but Microsoft is gaining ground fastest.
Fifty-seven percent of the 930 respondents were running applications in AWS, a slight uptick from the previous year.
But Microsoft Azure doubled its adoption from 6 percent of the market in 2014 to 12 percent in this year's survey, solidifying its hold on the second spot.
"IaaS offerings from Azure and Google continue to generate a lot of interest and potential for future Adoption," RightScale noted, reporting 29 percent of the respondents are experimenting with or plan to use those two clouds.
While AWS enjoys a big lead in actual usage, only 24 percent of respondents were warming to future Amazon use.
