Battle For The Enterprise
Microsoft's Azure public cloud even more drastically closed the gap in enterprise adoption, from 11 percent in 2014 to 19 percent in the latest survey. AWS now only has 2.5 times more respondents with more than 1,000 employees as customers than Microsoft.
Competition for the enterprise is heating up.
Some 36 percent of enterprise respondents were experimenting with or planning to use Azure, compared to 24 percent for AWS.
"It is important to note that many enterprises will use both AWS and Azure as part of a diversified portfolio of cloud providers," the report reads.
Google's Compute Engine also made inroads with enterprises, increasing from four percent in 2014 to nine percent of this year's respondents.
