Blind To The Threat?
About one in every five organizations (21 percent) said they experienced a security breach through the use of personal or corporate-owned mobile devices, while roughly half of organizations that said they did not.
But what’s alarming is that 37 percent of organizations are not sure whether they’ve been hit or not.
Crowd Research called that result “problematic;” it puts organizations “at risk of undetected data loss/theft — and the resulting legal, financial and reputational damages that may occur.”
“It’s important for organizations to properly manage data across the entire mobile lifecycle if they want to avoid data leaks,” especially when employees lose their devices, or they’re stolen, the survey stated.
Crowd Research said certified mobile data erasure software and device encryption tools, for instance, can minimize those risks.
