Tools And ‘Preventative Medicine’
Forty-three percent of organizations surveyed use mobile device management (MDM) software to manage mobile devices, followed by endpoint security tools (28 percent), network access controls (27 percent) and enterprise mobility management tools (17 percent). [Note: Multiple answers were allowed.]
When it comes to risk-control measures, 63 percent of organizations surveyed rely on password protection, followed by remote wiping of devices (49 percent) and device encryption (43 percent). But the finding that Crowd Research called “startling” was that only 38 percent implement data removal when an employee leaves the company or when the employee replaces a device.
"This finding underscores the importance that organizations manage sensitive data across the entire lifecycle - from creation to storage to transfer to removal,” Crowd Research wrote.
The impact on solution providers? These findings provide an opportunity to audit an organization’s risk-control measures and use of tools to minimize its vulnerability to attack.
