Racioppi said that while authenticity is important, women must be mindful of how to be authentic at different stages of their careers.

That means that women who are climbing up the workplace ladder must constantly change and closely understand the different skillsets needed for each role.

"The skills allowing us to be successful as a mid-career manager are not the same as the skills we need to be successful as an executive," she said. "Be mindful of using your authenticity wisely and not using it as a crutch to not change."
