4. Mobile Devices And Connections Are Getting Smarter

Mobile connections, and devices, are getting smarter, according to Cisco. In 2020, there will be 11.6 billion mobile-ready devices and connections, including 8.5 billion personal mobile devices and 3.1 billion M2M connections, the vendor says. That’s up from 7.9 billion mobile-ready devices and M2M connections in 2015.

Smartphones, laptops and tablets will drive about 92 percent of global mobile data traffic by 2020, down from 94 percent in 2015, according to Cisco, while M2M traffic will represent 7 percent of global mobile data traffic by 2020, up 3 percent from 2015.

For VARs, the increase in the numbers of smartphones, laptops and tablets, as well as M2M mobile traffic, will drive a more mobile ecosystem for customers. That will open up opportunities for solution providers to implement mobile solutions.
