With more companies moving their data to the cloud, a Black Hat presentation by security engineers and developers Andrew Krug and Alex McCormack dug into the challenges that presents to data security, specifically around API key security and incident response in the cloud. The challenges of a compromised API key include being able to access sensitive data, key repositories, databases and more, the presentation said. The presentation offered tips for companies to handle this challenge, including applying least privilege principles leveraging AWS services to improve security.
