Windows 10

With the growing deployment of Windows 10, it's inevitable that Black Hat hackers would target the new operating system. At Black Hat this year, two presentations targeted the topic. The first dug into a default-on feature in Windows 10 for memory deduplication across virtual machines, which the presentation found could be exploited using a Javascript to read arbitrary data in the system from the company's Edge browser. Another presentation explored the operating system's virtualization-based security and potential issues the solutions could pose for underlying platform complexity. The presentation also demonstrated exploits against the security solutions and related firmware.
