Q&A: How Red River Keeps Flowing While It’s Growing

Earlier you stressed the importance of saying 'no' to potential opportunities that don’t fit your core business. What is it you say "no" to, and why do you think that has been helping business?

I try to say to people, “What defines you as a person and a business is not what you say yes to, but what you say no to.”

Saying 'yes' is easy; saying 'no' is difficult. We have a lot of requests from customers and partners to do things when they are opening up a new business line or a new technology and they want us to support it. And although we look at all of those, if it's not part of our core foundation and the long-term vision we have for the company, we say no.
